Worship Center

Diocesan Choir:

The Diocesan Choir of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis was organized in 1996 and is directed by Michael Silhavy, Associate Director of the Worship Center.  The choir has a membership of 70 singers.  A small number of openings exist each year.  Prospective members should contact Michael Silhavy for membership information.  Singers are accepted throughout the year.  Singers must be a member of a parish choir and must be willing to commit to regular attendance at rehearsals and liturgies.

The purpose of the choir is as follows:

* To provide music at select archdiocesan liturgies (approximately 5 per year)

* To provide an opportunity for singers to participate in a large choir of mixed voices

* To provide an opportunity to sing choral literature not always easily done in parishes

* To provide an opportunity for directors or music leaders to sing in an ensemble

* To provide an opportunity for singers from throughout the archdiocese to gather

* To strive for musical excellence in a liturgical context
