Mission Statement: The Worship Center seeks to foster a climate of authentic worship in parishes and institutions of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Through education, consultation, formation and in modeling good liturgical practice, the Worship Center seeks to enable and encourage all the baptized to be more fully aware of the connection between liturgy and daily life. Working closely with the archbishop in his role as chief liturgist in the archdiocese, the Worship Center is committed to the implementation of the liturgical principles set forth by the Second Vatican Council and in subsequent documents of the Roman Catholic Church. Mindful that in the Church’s liturgical celebrations Christ is present in Word, Sacrament, Assembly and Presiding Minister, the Worship Center shares in the Church’s mission of making Jesus Christ known to all.
What The Worship Center Does….. The Worship Center of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis has four primary functions: 1) Members of the Worship Center staff plan and coordinate liturgies for archdiocesan celebrations, for Cathedral liturgies at which the archbishop presides, for national organizations meeting in this area, and for archdiocesan agencies which request assistance. 2) The Worship staff members serve as consultants to parishes, offering assistance both over the telephone and in person on a variety of topics, including liturgical law, liturgical year and calendar, renovation and new construction, environment and art, liturgical ministries, presiding skills, music, sacraments including the R.C.I.A., and personnel issues. 3) The staff provides catechesis in the liturgy field, doing workshops, consultation work, occasional newsletters and maintaining a library of videos, books and music. 4) The center provides support for musicians and liturgists. It works with the Association of Liturgical Ministers, and offers personnel resources for filling parish positions.
