All clergy and parish, school and diocesan employees, as well as all volunteers who have regular or unsupervised contact with minors must complete the “Essential Three” requirements:
- VIRTUS Safe Environment Training Attendance – VIRTUS training is a three hour awareness session which better equips adults to protect children in the world around them. VIRTUS sessions are ongoing and scheduled throughout the Archdiocese.
- Background Check – In order to protect those whom we serve all parish, school and diocesan employees must undergo a criminal background check. Certain volunteers, including, but not limited to, those who have regular or unsupervised contact with minors, must undergo a criminal background check.
- Code of Conduct – Archdiocesan Codes of Pastoral Conduct for employees and volunteers, promulgated in 2007, establish standards of ministerial behavior and appropriate boundaries for clergy and parish, school and diocesan employees as well as volunteers who have regular or unsupervised contact with minors.
For information regarding requirements for minors who volunteer with children, please read the Minor Volunteer PCYI Guidelines.
