Background Checks
In order to protect those whom we serve all parish, school and diocesan employees must undergo a criminal background check. Certain volunteers, including, but not limited to, those who have regular or unsupervised contact with minors, must undergo a criminal background check. Certain criminal convictions may prevent the employment of applicants. Similarly, certain criminal convictions may prevent volunteer applicants from serving in some capacities.

An employee’s background check report should be received, reviewed and accepted before an employee begins working.

Additional Background Check Requirements for Schools
A change in Minnesota law in 2008 requires that school administrators notify parents annually of the school’s background check policy. Another change in Minnesota law requires that school hiring authorities investigate whether any disciplinary actions were taken against a teacher applicant’s teaching license.
