The Mission…
The mission of the Ministry for Persons with disAbilities of the Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis
is committed to facilitate the implementation of the Pastoral Statement of U.S. Catholic Bishops on
People with disAbilities which calls for “realizing the unique gifts that individuals with disAbilities
have to offer the church” and society, and to advocate for the inclusion of persons with disAbilities
in full participation of liturgical, sacramental and parish life.
About the Logo
The mission of this office is to advocate for people with disAbilities, which is centered in Christ's love.
Note that the cross, heart and person are intertwined. As the people of God, we ALL have gifts to share.
The circle outside signifies the mutual sharing of our gifts; giving and receiving from one another.
We call this Inclusion.
Fr. Shaji Joseph
Fr. Shaji Joseph was appointed by Archbishop Harry Flynn to serve as the Coordinator of the Outreach
to Persons with Disabilities two years ago. Previously he was located at the Catholic Charities offices
before moving to the Office for Family, Laity, Youth and Young Adults this year. Fr. Shaji also serves
as a Chaplain at United and Children's Hospitals. He is starting a masters program in Special
Education in Developmental Disabilities. At this time, Fr. Shaji is organizing an advisory board
whose focus is to develop an advocacy program in parishes for people with disabilities. We are happy to
have him as part of our office. His ministry will be a great addition to families and parishes!
You can reach Fr. Shaji at 651-291-4543 or pazhus@archspm.org.
