Information for those applying for dual citizenship by descent <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Although the general genealogical research services of the archdiocese have been\u00a0<\/span>discontinued<\/span>, we are still\u00a0<\/span>assisting<\/span>\u00a0with requests related to applications for dual citizenship by descent. Due to the extraordinarily high volume of these requests, the time and work\u00a0<\/span>required<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>locate<\/span>\u00a0records and produce certified copies, and limited staff\u00a0<\/span>availability,<\/span>\u00a0the processing time for such requests may be as long as\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span>8-<\/span>12 weeks<\/span><\/span>. The fee for these requests is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>$50 per record<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0to help offset the staff hours\u00a0<\/span>required<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Many of the records being requested are readily available through civil\u00a0sources. In order to continue offering this service and to make the best use of our time and resources, we\u00a0<\/span>require<\/span><\/b>\u00a0that all requesters try first to obtain a civil record of birth, marriage, or death and to have received a definitive reply from the applicable state or county\u00a0office\u00a0indicating that no such record can be found\u00a0<\/span>before<\/span><\/b>\u00a0requesting a corresponding sacramental record of baptism, marriage or death. Only records that are\u00a0<\/span>at least 100 years old<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0located\u00a0<\/span>within the 12 counties of the archdiocese<\/span><\/b>\u00a0(Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Hennepin, Le Sueur, Ramsey, Rice, Scott, Washington,\u00a0and\u00a0Wright) are available for request. Please provide as precise a date and location as possible for each record to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0research. Submissions with insufficient dates or locations will be denied.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
