Award Categories ("Pillars")

The Committee understands that there will be some activities/programs that may not neatly fit into one award category. The purpose of the ministry/activity/event should determine whether it was primarily a Prayer, a Participation, or a Generosity event.

  • Example: A gift in kind of providing the youth room with WIFI and all of the cabling could be Generosity, and if a volunteer group actually opened up the walls and installed that cable, their gift was one of Participation.  If the end result was so that the Youth Group could interact and pray with their “sister parish” on the other side of the world, then their gift would be in the Prayer category.

Nominees shall be selected based on:

The Pillar of Prayer in Stewardship focuses on recognizing that every day is a gift from God. With this understanding we strive to spend some of each day with God, through prayer. During this time, we ask God how He wants us to use the gifts He has given to us.

  • Growth and vision into prayer initiatives that help foster a mindset towards Stewardship as a way of life
  • Proven success in creating and implementing prayer activities for parishioners that help them to see how God wants them to use their gifts that He has given them
  • A strong Stewardship committee

The Pillar of Participation in Stewardship focuses on active participation in activities that help people in need recognizing that we need to actively share our gifts from God.

  • Growth and vision into participation initiatives that help foster a mindset towards Stewardship as a way of life.
  • Proven success in creating and implementing programs and/activities for parishioners to help them use their gifts to participate in parish life (e.g. joining committees, volunteering for parish events, serving as ushers, etc.)
  • A strong Stewardship committee

The Pillar of Generosity in Stewardship focuses on responding to Jesus’ challenge that we give as it has been given to us. Aware of our tremendous blessings, we strive to give generously to support the building up of God’s kingdom.

    • A substantial parishioner base that is actively involved in the surrounding community beyond the parish itself.
    • Established programming and activities that allow parishioners to share the gifts that God has given them, through various forms of almsgiving (e.g. collections, service opportunities, etc.).
    • A strong Stewardship committee
