Electronic Transfer of Your Stock or Securities

IRA

If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can make a “Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)” by directing a specific amount of your IRA funds directly to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis – Catholic Services Appeal, which is completely tax-free and counts towards your required minimum distribution (RMD), allowing you to donate a larger sum without impacting your taxable income.

QCD

  • What is a QCD: A QCD is a tax-free distribution from an IRA that is directly transferred to a qualified charity, meaning you do not have to report the money as taxable income. 
  • Eligibility: To make a QCD, you must be at least 70 1/2 years old. 
  • Maximum amount: As of 2025, the maximum amount that can be donated through a QCD is $108,000 per year. 

How to make a QCD to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis – Catholic Services Appeal:

  • Contact your IRA provider and specify that you want to make a QCD.

Benefits for you:

  • Reduces taxable income by the amount of the QCD.

Charitable Foundation

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) allow you to make tax-deductible contributions using appreciated assets like stocks and allow you to manage your giving strategy over time. Matching Gift Program
