The parish has three beautiful church buildings. St. Mark, completed in 1868, has been called “one of the finest examples of German Gothic Architecture in the Northwest.” After surviving a major fire in 2005, the church was beautifully restored and renovated. St. Mary was built in 1865 by dedicated Irish and French Catholics. This intimate church is also home to the parish Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. St. Mary of the Purification was founded in 1855. It is a resilient church—destroyed by fire three times, and each time rebuilt, the present stone church dates back 1882. The three parishes merged in 2012 to become Sts. Joachim and Anne. The parish also has a thriving Catholic school, Shakopee Area Catholic School, which was established in 1970 as a consolidation of the three Catholic Parish Schools in Shakopee. A new school was built in 2003. In 2013, Shakopee Area Catholic School officially became the parish school of Sts. Joachim and Anne.
