Archbishop Hebda has granted a dispensation from the obligation of abstinence of meat the evening of Friday, March 18, for those who begin their celebration of the Solemnity of Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary (March 19) that evening, by either:
- praying Evening Prayer I, which is in honor of Saint Joseph, or
- participating at an anticipatory Mass of the solemnity on that evening.

As a reminder, as the following Friday, March 25 is the Solemnity of the Annunciation, there is no obligation to abstain from meat that day.
