A Webinar for Survivors and Those Who Care for Them

This webinar will center on the voices of survivors as we explore the letters, statements, and depositions in the new Santa Fe archive. Survivors were instrumental in creating the archive as part of the settlement of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe bankruptcy. Last year more than 40,000 pages of files were posted online by the University of New Mexico. The Santa Fe archdiocese was home base for the Servants of the Paraclete, a religious order that from the late 1940s to the 1990s treated offending priests from all over the United States and allowed them to minister and abuse in communities nearby. This webinar will explore that history and the legacy of clergy abuse in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe by tracing the stories of survivors in their courageous witness.

Terence McKiernan, who founded BishopAccountability.org in 2003 and is the organization’s president will be presenting. He was a project leader of Gender, Sex, and Power at Notre Dame’s Cushwa Center 2020-2022. Terry and BishopAccountability.org received the 2023 Distinguished Service Award from the American Catholic Historical Association.
