The first parish in this neighborhood was built by French-speaking Catholics and named in honor of St. Clotilde. When the parish had to be closed due to fire and lack of funds, the parish was reincorporated under the name of St. Anne. The current stone church was completed in 1949. Today, the church serves the Vietnamese Catholic community and has changed its name again. It is known as St. Anne-St. Joseph Hien, honoring the Vietnamese martyr canonized by Pope St. John Paul II in 1988.
