In 1876, thirty Catholic families in Farmington built a mission church on Elm Street, a church which would be served by visiting priests for the next nineteen years. In 1895, St. Michael became a parish and received a resident pastor. A brick church was completed in 1913 on the corner of 5th and Spruce. The Farmington area has grown tremendously since those early days. To comfortably accommodate the increased number of families, a new church was completed at the turn of the millennium and is now located on the corner of Denmark Ave. and Ash St. — about a mile from the old church. The addition of a gathering space, meeting areas, and social hall continue to provide ample facilities for a vibrant, active parish. Today the parish strives to be centered in the Eucharist, helping parishioners grow in faith, and be joyful in making disciples.
