In 1858, a number of Catholic families newly arrived from Luxembourg and the Rhineland area gathered for Mass at a private home. Three years later, a log chapel was erected, and in 1863, the Catholic faithful received their first resident priest. A new church was completed in 1871. In 1905, beautiful outdoor Stations of the Cross were completed. The area grew and the present brick church was completed in 1911. Magnificent stained-glass windows were installed over several decades; the project was completed in the 1960s.
