The current St. Thomas the Apostle church in Corcoran was completed in 1896
after it was decided by the Archdiocese to consolidate with St. Patrick in Maple
Grove, since their church had burnt down. The land on which St. Thomas sits was
donated by members of the Corcoran family. Father Adam Coyle (born in Ireland)
was the first pastor in this new church with the first baptism and wedding held
in May 1896. The first member to be ordained was Fr. Benjamin Audus in 1907.
Stained glass windows were added during the 1930s and are a sight of beauty.
Today, St. Thomas is a vibrant parish in the midst of new developments where area
Catholics of all ages can come to worship, reflect, learn, gather, grow in faith, and
generously help those in need. The mission of St. Thomas is to lead all souls to Jesus
Christ. The church sits on a campus of approximately 25 acres and is gearing up to
build a new church which will incorporate the current stained-glass windows.
