I was deeply saddened to learn that the Little Sisters of the Poor will be leaving the Holy Family Residence and our Archdiocese. They have been an important part of this local Church for more than 140 years and their Christ-like witness and example will be greatly missed. I have always loved my visits to the Holy Family Residence and am grateful that we have been blessed by their presence. Their sacrifices and tireless commitment to service, as well as their trust in Divine Providence, have been inspiring to me personally and to our broader community.
I know how difficult it will be for the Little Sisters to leave the Holy Family Residence and have promised them my prayers. Please join me in praying as well for their residents and staff at this time of transition.
The Archdiocese hopes that there will be an opportunity for another Catholic entity to continue the beautiful work that has made the Little Sisters beloved in this local Church.
