Corpus Christi was founded in 1939 and was named in honor of the 1941 National Eucharistic
Congress, which the parish would help to host.
The first church was completed in 1940 and was located at Cleveland and Buford Avenues.
Corpus Christi School opened in 1959 under the direction of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
The school was located two miles north of the church, and two Sunday Masses were said each
week at the school.
In 1992, a new church was built next to the school and at last the whole parish was on a single
campus. The old church was sold and the school has since closed.
In 1985, Corpus Christi established a partnership with Our Lady of Refuge Mission in LaUnion,
New Mexico, which lasted for many years.
