Located on the East Side of Saint Paul in the Hazel Park area, the original church was built in 1917 by Fr. W.W. Finley. Father Finley lead the parish from 1916 until 1946. The parish school opened in 1918 and was staffed by religious sisters. In 2004, Blessed Sacrament School closed. St. Thomas the Apostle Church located on the East Side of Saint Paul in the Beaver Lake area was founded in 1954 by Fr. Tom Robertson, when the post-war baby boom necessitated the establishment of another parish to serve the needs of the neighborhood. In 2011, the parishes were merged into one parish, building on the strengths of each church. In 2015, the LaCrosse Avenue site was sold but kept the St. Thomas the Apostle building and the name of Blessed Sacrament. In 2000, the Adoration Chapel was dedicated. After two moves and a beautiful renovation completed in 2019, it was renamed the St. Thomas the Apostle adoration chapel. The chapel and the parish continue to thrive, with vibrant ministries in which parishioners are actively involved, living out their faith through liturgy, faith formation, outreach to the needy, and social events.
