St. Francis Xavier was established in 1884 through the generosity and determination of laypeople who donated the land and raised funds for the building of the church: Greene, Hoppe, Rochel, and Thomskemper were among the founding families, and Henry Rochel was the first person to be buried in the cemetery on September 13th, 1884. St. Francis Xavier now serves more than 100 families, sharing a pastor with St. Joseph in Taylors Falls.
