Set as a beacon on a hill to surrounding Maplewood and the East Side of St.
Paul, Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been a center of Catholic
faith and life since 1946. The founders of the parish were people profoundly
affected by World War II. They were soldiers returning from battle or people
who had spent long years on the home front. They were committed to putting
faith at the center of their lives. The parish got its start with just 76 families
who worshipped in Gladstone School, then in what is now known as Kenney
Hall. The current church was completed in 1966. Situated on one of the highest
points in Ramsey County, the church’s modern, fan-shaped design reflects the
liturgical renewal instituted by Vatican II.
Today, the parish continues to be a vibrant place of worship, education, and
outreach to the community.
