Archbishop Bernard Hebda has announced the following appointments in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis:
Effective January 24, 2026
Reverend Alex Carlson, granted a medical leave of absence. Father Carlson is the pastor of the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Excelsior.
Effective February 3, 2026
Reverend Stephen Ulrick, assigned as parochial administrator of the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Excelsior while the pastor, Reverend Alex Carlson is on a medical leave of absence. Father Ulrick is a retired priest of the archdiocese.
Effective March 1, 2026
Reverend James Notebaart, assigned as parochial administrator of the Church of Saint Pius in Cannon Falls while the pastor, Reverend Michael McClellan is on sabbatical. Father Notebaart is a retired priest of the archdiocese.
Reverend Brandon Theisen, assigned as parochial administrator of the Church of Saint Joseph in Miesville while the pastor, Reverend Michael McClellan is on sabbatical. This is in addition to his current assignment as pastor of the Church of Saint Joseph in Red Wing.
Effective March 31, 2026
Deacon James Pufahl, granted the status of retired deacon. Deacon Rufahl has served the archdiocese since his ordination in 2004, most recently at the Church of Mary, Mother of the Church in Burnsville.
