Dear Friends,
As Catholic institutions in the Twin Cities, we continue to hold in prayer the families, students, clergy, educators, lay leaders, and neighbors across Minnesota who are experiencing fear, grief, and disruption in this moment. With missions rooted in the Gospel and in the Church’s social teaching, we affirm the inherent dignity of every person and the call to respond with compassion, accompaniment, and concrete care.
In recent weeks, Catholic parishes and schools across our region have been called upon to support families and children navigating uncertainty, loss, and instability. Our clergy, principals, educators and lay staff are often among the first to offer pastoral presence, food, emergency assistance, and reassurance to community members seeking safety and support. These responses reflect the heart of our faith, but they also place significant strain on the communities striving to meet urgent needs.
In response, the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota has established the Fondo católico de ayuda de Minnesota to provide coordinated financial support to Catholic parishes and schools serving families most affected. The fund is intended to strengthen the capacity of these communities to continue offering care, basic assistance, and stability during a time of heightened demand and vulnerability.
This initiative is rooted in our shared moral conviction that no person should fear that their family may be torn apart, and no community should face these challenges alone. It reflects our commitment not only to speak about dignity and justice, but to also act in ways that protect and sustain the people and institutions closest to those in need.
As Catholics, we continue to echo the Church’s call for immigration policies and public discourse that uphold human dignity, protect families, and resist dehumanization. We hold together both prayer and action — trusting that our response must be both compassionate and concrete.
We invite our broader Catholic community and all people of goodwill to join us in supporting this effort. By strengthening the capacity of our parishes and schools, we help ensure that they remain places of refuge, spiritual nourishment, learning, and belonging for every person who enters them.
May the peace of Christ guide our communities, and may our shared commitment to mercy and justice shape how we care for one another in this moment.
