Letter to the faithful from Archbishop Bernard A. Hebda
April 24, 2023
Queridas hermanas y hermanos en Cristo
It is with great gratitude that I write to you today regarding a development with the Catholic Services Appeal Foundation (CSAF), the foundation that you support financially, which then supports 19 ministries in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
The CSAF board informed me that Tizoc Rosales, the president of CSAF since 2021, is leaving the organization and returning to The Saint Paul Seminary, where he will lead the Institutional Advancement Office. I am grateful for Tizoc’ s Christ -centered leadership these past two years and how he has selflessly served the mission of this local Church. He has been a tireless laborer and partner in our Lord’ s vineyard, and I look forward to what God has in store for him at The Saint Paul Seminary.
Along with the news of Tizoc’ s departure on May 5, the CSAF board shared with me that it desires to begin a prayerful discernment process, evaluating operations and structures, in light of the organization’ s recent strategic planning work. During that time, Yen Fasano, CSAF board chair, will serve as interim leader, directing the day-to- day operations of the appeal. I have asked Jean Houghton, Director of Mission Advancement for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis to partner with Yen and the CSAF board during this time to support the completion of the 2023 campaign. I am grateful to both Yen and Jean for their willingness to respond so generously to this need.
I ask you to join me in prayerfully accompanying the CSAF board during this time of transition and discernment and ask that the Holy Spirit guide the process so that the appeal can continue to support the good work of so many in our community striving to do the work of Jesus in our community. I hope that you will continue to financially support the Catholic Services Appeal in the 2023 campaign and beyond.
Please know in advance of my gratitude for all that you will do to support the appeal and the ministries that depend upon this annual effort.
Sincerely in Christ,
Reverendísimo Bernard A. Hebda
Arzobispo de San Pablo y Minneapolis
