The Minnesota State House and Senate are fast-tracking a bill that would further enshrine abortion into our state law and disregard the dignity of human life. It is moving through committees and heading to the floor this week!
What this legislation seeks to do by protecting reproductive freedom after a child is conceived goes well beyond merely “codifying Roe”. Instead, it attempts to enshrine into law an abortion regime that disregards prenatal human life, even the life of a pre-born child whose heart is beating, who can feel pain, and who is viable outside the womb. It also opens the door to a whole host of fertility treatments and “reproductive healthcare,” regardless of the wisdom or ethics of those technologies or procedures. To enact such a law, especially since it protects late-term abortions, is a stain on the moral credibility of our state.
