Litany of Humility

Litany of Humility

O Jesus! meek and humble of heart,ย Hear me.

Fromย the desire of being esteemed,
Deliver me, Jesus.

From the desire of being lovedโ€ฆ
From the desire of being extolled โ€ฆ
From the desire of being honored โ€ฆ
From the desire of being praised โ€ฆ
From the desire of being preferred to othersโ€ฆ
From the desire of being consulted โ€ฆ
From the desire of being approved โ€ฆ
From the fear of being humiliated โ€ฆ
Fromย the fear of being despisedโ€ฆ
From the fear of suffering rebukes โ€ฆ
From the fear of being calumniated โ€ฆ
From the fear of being forgotten โ€ฆ
From the fear of being ridiculed โ€ฆ
From the fear of being wronged โ€ฆ
From the fear of being suspected โ€ฆ

That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
ย

That others may be esteemed more than I โ€ฆ
That, in the opinion of the world,
others may increase and I may decrease โ€ฆ
That others may be chosen and I set aside โ€ฆ
That others may be praised and I unnoticed โ€ฆ
That others may be preferred to me in everythingโ€ฆ
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should โ€ฆ
