Divine Mercy is part of the deep history of the Catholic faith in Faribault. The church was formed in 2002, combining the long-standing parishes of Sacred Heart, St. Lawrence and Immaculate Conception. In 2006, the Church relocated to a new building on a 40-acre plot south of town, while the Divine Mercy Catholic School continued to operate out of a building near downtown Faribault. Facing the challenge of $6 million in deferred maintenance and physical plant needs, Divine Mercy kicked off the next phase of its master plan—relocating the school by expanding the church campus with a new education center for students in Pre-K-5, as well as common spaces to share with the church, and a new administrative center. The project, which was completed in fall 2024, included classrooms, dining commons, kitchen, specialty classrooms for art, music, and science, and a high school size gymnasium.
