St. Stephen-Holy Rosary is a merged urban mission parish with two campuses, serving a predominantly Latino immigrant community. Both St. Stephen and Holy Rosary shared a long history of active, vibrant ministries and service to the poor prior to merging in 2022. St. Stephen was established in 1885, the 9th Catholic parish in Minneapolis. The current handsome brown sandstone church was dedicated in 1891. A school followed in 1915, which was staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph until 1991. Holy Rosary was established in 1878 by the Dominican Friars of the Province ofmSt. Albert the Great. The current church and priory were built in 1888. In 1879mHoly Rosary school was established. The Sinsinawa Dominican sisters served at the school and later the parish until 2015. In 2020, the Dominican Friars made the decision to leave the parish, and Holy Rosary merged with St. Stephen in 2022. The schools at both campuses were consolidated into Risen Christ School in 1993.
