Prior to 1874, the Catholics in the Hamel area had been served by a visiting priest from Osseo or had attended Mass in other nearby communities. In 1874, they began planning for a church of their own, which was completed in 1879. The current church was completed in 1934. The marble pillars, floor and red tile roofing came from the Gates Mansion in Minneapolis.
Parish adoration takes place every Sunday October through May, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Rosary is said at 7 p.m.
