St. Luke can trace its beginnings back to 1870, when an old schoolhouse was purchased and remodeled to serve as a mission church. The community had just nine families and they were served by a missionary priest who visited once a month. A new church was completed in 1904. As partial payment for his work, the church builder was given the former church! In 1927, the parish received its first resident pastor. A fire damaged the church in 1942, but it was restored.
