St. Mathias was erected in 1900 as a mission of St. Mary, New Trier. A
parish school was opened in 1918 and was staffed by the School Sisters
of Notre Dame. Today, St. Mathias is clustered with St. Mary in New Trier
and St. John the Baptist in Vermillion, sharing a pastor, staff and school.
