The first church of St. Michael was built in 1878 in the center of Pine Island. The original church served the community for nearly 90 years. In August 1969, a groundbreaking ceremony was held at the site of the new church at 451 5th Street SW, Pine Island. The new church was dedicated on September 27, 1970. Today, St. Michael serves approximately 300 families. Remembering the agricultural roots and nourished by the sacraments, St. Michael continues to journey as Christians responding to Christ and His call. Confronted with a multitude of choices in our materialistic society, St. Michael strives to develop a living faith, minister to the needs of others, foster love and care throughout the community, provide educational experiences for all and continue faithful stewardship of our land and other resources.
