St. Peter in Richfield was established in 1943. The first Mass was celebrated at the Academy of the Holy Angels, next door to the present church. Mass continued to be offered at the academy until a combined church and school was completed in 1946. The upper part of the church was completed in 1950, and served the community for three decades, until the present building was completed in 1981. Over the years, with the changing demographics of the area, St. Peter has continued to adapt. St. Peter opened its school in 1946, staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph. In 1994, the school was consolidated with those of Assumption and St. Richard in Richfield to form Blessed Trinity Catholic School. In 2020, the Richfield parishes began to collaborate even more closely. While they remain three distinct parishes, they have one pastor, one parish staff, one set of bilingual ministries, and one mission to spread the Gospel.
