July 20-26
“Pursue a lasting love … Marriage. Create hope for the future! Natural Family Planning, Supporting God’s gifts of love and life in marriage” is the theme of this year’s national Natural Family Planning Awareness Week.
Natural Family Planning Awareness Week highlights the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae, July 25, which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, marriage, conjugal love and responsible parenthood. Please join us to spread the word about God’s design for married love and the gift of life as well as the methods of NFP!
The Office of Discipleship and Evangelization joins with the U.S. Bishops to highlight the benefits of NFP to help married couples live God’s design for their marriages. “NFP allows couples to prayerfully discern and pursue responsible parenthood, but that is not all. After decades of scientific research, women are now equipped to effectively monitor and maintain their health, alongside cooperative healthcare with NaProTechnology, among other methods. NFP respects the dignity of the human person by protecting both the unitive and procreative aspects of intimacy” (Renee Oakes, FCP, DHS, Associate Director of Marriage Ministry).
Want to learn more about the methods of NFP offered in our Archdiocese? A schedule of local NFP classes can be viewed here or call the Marriage Ministry Department at the Archdiocese at 651-291-4551.
The Catholic Church invites all the faithful to embrace God’s plan for married love. Learn more about these beautiful teachings which support the use of NFP in marriage at usccb.org/topics/natural-family-planning/church-teaching.
