The Office for the Renewal of Structures supports the Archdiocesan comprehensive reconfiguration of resources and organizational renewal initiatives to more vigorously proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Why an Office for the Renewal of Structures?
In his pastoral letter, Archbishop Hebda reaffirmed the need to examine Archdiocesan resources to best serve the faithful:
I renew my 2020 pledge to our priests to examine after the Synod how we might better align our limited resources (material, financial, human and property) to serve the faithful through viable and vibrant parishes. As a first step in that process, the Archdiocese has budgeted for this Office which will be charged with both supporting individual parishes in the near-term and laying the groundwork for a comprehensive examination of our needs in the future.
What does this office do?
The Office for the Renewal of Structures supports identified parishes, in collaboration with the Archdiocesan Planning Process (APP) and the Mission Support Office, as they implement Archbishop-approved plans following an APP Assessment, which could include:
- entering into clustering arrangements,
- walking through mergers, and
- taking actions to simplify physical plant (i.e. divesting buildings/campuses).
The Office for the Renewal of Structures also stands ready to help parishes seek healing from past difficulties.
