Special Appeal for Relief in Gaza – August 30-31

Source: Center for Mission

Archbishop Hebda is asking all parishes of the archdiocese to join in a nationwide special appeal for humanitarian relief and pastoral support in Gaza on or near the weekend of August 30-31.

“The situation in Gaza and across the Middle East cries out for the assistance of the Catholic community of the United States,” said Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. “Our Church mourns the terrible suffering of Christians and other innocent victims of violence in Gaza and surrounding areas who are struggling to survive, protect their children, and live with dignity in dire conditions.”

Funds from this special appeal will support the efforts of Catholic Relief Services and the Catholic Near East Welfare Association. Both organizations are already well-established with the Catholic Church in the region to allow them to respond quickly and efficiently.

For this special appeal, parishioners should make checks out to their parishes, not the individual organizations. Parishes, please remit all donations to the Center for Mission, 777 Forest St., St. Paul, MN 55116.
