Star Tribune names Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis a 2025 Top Workplace

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis has been named one of the Top Workplaces in Minnesota by the Minnesota Star Tribune and a national standard Top Workplace. A complete list was published in the Star Tribune Top Workplaces special section June 15.

Produced by the same team that compiles the 34-year-old Star Tribune 100 report of the best-performing public companies in Minnesota, Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health and satisfaction. The analysis included responses from thousands of employees at Minnesota public, private and nonprofit organizations.

The results of the Star Tribune Top Workplaces are based on survey information collected by Energage, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention.

Archbishop Hebda said of the award: “I am extremely grateful that our employees are so committed to the mission of the Catholic Church in the 12 counties that make up the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. That mission is to make Jesus known and loved, and they carry it out daily in big and small ways, which is so inspiring to me.”

“Our first Core Value is to be Christ-centered, and we expect that from ourselves, as leaders, and from our employees,” said Chief Operating Officer Bill Lentsch. “Our organization also focuses on honest and open two-way communication, which means we need to listen as much as we talk – particularly when our employees share an opposing view. It is vital for us to hear everyone’s voice.”

Chief Human Resources Officer Maria Hultman added, “I recently joined the Archdiocese due, in part, to the employee-focused culture. This award recognizes the very hard and intentional work of the Archdiocesan team to create a culture rooted in compassion, respect, and shared mission which reflects the heart of the Church. I look forward to the opportunity to further advance that work.”

The Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis is home to approximately hundreds of thousands of Catholics in the 12-county greater Twin Cities metropolitan area. Established as a diocese in 1850 (originally Minnesota and the Dakotas), the Holy See elevated it to an archdiocese in 1888. Now, the Archdiocese’s boundaries are the 12‐county greater Twin Cities metropolitan area. The Archdiocese is home to 186 parishes and 89 Catholic schools.

The purpose of the Archdiocese is to assist the office of the Archbishop in his apostolic ministry and provide support to our ministerial partners, especially parishes and schools, to fulfill their mission.
