Archbishop’s Weekly Word: Be bold in what you ask

People returning from pilgrimages to Rome often ask me if I miss my time in the Eternal City. While I loved all 18 of the years that I lived there, I consider it a blessing that thereโ€™s actually very little that I miss. I have been thinking these days, however, about the Italian version of Mardi Grasโ€”Carnevale.

Archbishop’s Weekly Word: Thereโ€™s more to life than more

If you watched the Super Bowl yesterday, you might have seen the commercial that is part of the โ€œHe Gets Usโ€ series. This year, the ad addressed the excessive noise and misleading expectations of our cultureโ€”more toys, more fun, more beautiful, more pleasure, more thrills, more wealth.

Statement Regarding the Death of Alex Pretti and Invitation to Prayer

The loss of another life amidst the tensions that have gripped Minnesota should prompt all of us to ask what we can do to restore the Lordโ€™s peace. While we rightly thirst for Godโ€™s justice and hunger for his peace, this will be not be achieved until we are able to rid our hearts of the hatreds and prejudices that prevent us from seeing each other as brothers and sisters created in the image and likeness of God.
