I am still reeling from the great gift of the Holy Spirit that allowed me to enter into my Episcopal Ordination with ease and grace. Yes, at times my heart was racing, but I was able to take in all that happened and felt such peace and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I am in awe of how well everything flowed and came together. Many from the Archdiocesan staff, St. Olaf staff and Cathedral staff, alongside volunteers from many organizations, participated in the planning and implementation of all the events. For this, I thank you!
First, I’d like to thank Archbishop Hebda for all the support he provided me during the time of discernment: the waiting for the announcement and ordination, the freedom he allowed me to live into the moment and struggle with myself in this call. I thank Bishop Izen for the accompaniment during this time and the advice he gave when questions arose. I thank the Episcopal Events Committee from the Archdiocese who spent endless hours planning and facilitating the events and trying to keep things simple, as was my request. I am grateful for my staff at St. Olaf who not only worked their jobs, but also jumped right in to make sure these days were honored and enjoyable, especially Mary Kennedy and her dedication. I thank my family and friends, being as surprised as I was, who laughed with me, supported me, and even affirmed me into this new position.
I thank Fr. John Forliti, my first pastor, who mentored me in many honorable and prudent ways. His example as a priest, pastor, and friend has kept me moving forward and seeing the blessings of priesthood even amongst the challenges and struggles. I thank Fr. Fernando Ortega and Fr. Bruno Nwachukwu who were my priest chaplains. I have worked with them in different capacities and respect their endurance and their love for the Church. God has called them to be a presence in our local Church. I thank Bishops Peter Christianson and Jim Golka, who were the co-consecrators, for their leadership, humbleness, and genuine love for the calls they have received. I thank all the priests who were present, even though Monday was probably your day off; you chose to walk with me to this new path. I carry you in my prayers and in my heart.
I thank all the deacons, religious, and laity who were present in numbers. Your influence and support of the Church, this Archdiocese and of me, is overwhelming. We walk many different walks, but the journey and path all lead to the love of Jesus. The joy, the tears, the laughter, and the prayers were all felt immensely. What joy was felt Monday in the Cathedral. Thank you, Dora Mata and Angela Osuji, for your proclamation of God’s word.
I thank all who tuned in via live stream, provided by Town Square Television and shared via YouTube and social media. Many from around the world, who would not have been able to attend, attended through modern technology. Your presence was felt! Many local people decided to stay home and participate with a front row seat. I have heard your reactions and felt your presence along with those who have gone before us.
I thank my parents, grandparents, relatives and friends who have made the journey to Jesus. You touched my life in many different ways, and I am forever grateful for your faith, hope and love. I look forward to the day I will see you again in God’s glory.
The music at both the vespers and the ordination were splendid. The talent of all the St. Olaf choirs and the Cathedral choir, the cantor nodding in agreement to the spoken word, along with the musicians moved us spiritually and heavenly! Guillermo Castillo singing Alma Misionera, with the congregation slowly joining in, reflects where we are today.
The day could not have been more glorious. Thanks to all who gave up one of the final golf days of the year. Thanks to Lake Elmo Inn for catering, the Saint Paul Hotel, O’Gara’s, TST Catering, Karol Coffee Co., and Dermot from O’Donovan’s Pub who fed us throughout the two days.
What can I say but “THANK YOU!” Jesus has called me to “follow him” in an additional way and I know it will provide challenges and blessings. I will continue to walk with all of you and look forward to many new experiences ahead. God bless us all and thank you for all the support, enrichment, and faithfulness you give to the archdiocese and to God. Amen, Amen!

Todavía me estoy recuperando del gran don del Espíritu Santo que me permitió entrar en mi ordenación episcopal con sencillez y gracia. Sí, hubo momentos en que mi corazón se aceleraba, pero pude asimilar todo lo que sucedió y sentí tanta paz y sentí la presencia del Espíritu Santo.
Estoy asombrado de lo bien que todo fluyó y se llevó a cabo en unidad. Muchos miembros del personal de la Arquidiócesis, del personal de San Olaf, del personal de la Catedral y los voluntarios de muchas organizaciones, participaron en la planificación y la implementación de todos los eventos. ¡Por esto, les estoy muy agradecido!

Caminamos por muchos caminos diferentes, pero el viaje y el camino conducen al amor de Jesús. La alegría, las lágrimas, las risas y las oraciones se sintieron inmensamente. Qué alegría se sintió ese lunes en la Catedral. Gracias, Dora Mata y Angela Osuji, por su proclamación de la palabra de Dios.
Agradezco a todos los que se sintonizaron a través de la transmisión en vivo proporcionada por Town Square Television, y compartida a través de YouTube y las redes sociales. Muchas personas de todo el mundo que no pudieron asistir en vivo asistieron a través de la tecnología moderna. ¡Se sintió su presencia! Muchas personas locales decidieron quedarse en casa y participar en primera fila. He escuchado sus reacciones y he sentido su presencia junto con aquellos que nos han precedido.

El talento de todos los coros, el coro de Saint Olaf y el coro de la Catedral, el cantor asintiendo con la cabeza en acuerdo con la palabra hablada, junto con los músicos, nos conmovieron espiritual y celestialmente. El día no podría haber sido más glorioso. Gracias a todos los que renunciaron a uno de los últimos días de golf del año.
