October 26, 2014 - At the request of the Clergy Review Board back in June, I temporarily removed Deacon Joseph Damiani from ministry while an investigation was reopened regarding a previous allegation of a sexual abuse of a minor.

October 23, 2014 - Today, we join law firm Jeff Anderson and Associates in jointly disclosing the names and assignment histories of 17 men who have substantiated claims against them of sexually abusing a minor while they were assigned as priests.

October 13, 2014 - Today, attorney Jeff Anderson and officials from the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis announced a settlement of the first case filed under the Minnesota Child Victims Act and a history-making agreement to work together to protect children and help clergy sexual abuse victims/survivors heal.

October 13, 2014 - The joint agreement that has been reached between the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis and Jeff Anderson and Associates and the survivors he represents is a historic moment in our efforts to assure the safety of children and vulnerable adults.

August 25, 2014 - Archbishop John Nienstedt announced the appointment of Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge Timothy J. O’Malley to the new position of Director of Ministerial Standards and Safe Environment for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

Thomas Stitts was one of the former clergy included in our initial disclosure of names of credibly accused priests on December 2, 2013. This John Jay list was posted on our website at the time. Stitts was in ministry when he died in 1985.  

August 13, 2014 - Earlier this week, the priest file of Kenneth LaVan was released publicly and two media outlets reported inaccurate information based on the information in the file.

July 30, 2014 - To say that this has been a difficult year is quite an understatement. Here in the archdiocese, Catholics have witnessed many troubling media reports, and many of us have had difficult conversations with friends and family about what it means to be Catholic and why we still profess the faith.

July 23, 2014 - Michael Kolar is included in list of names posted on our website of men who previously had clergy assignments in the archdiocese and who face substantiated claims against them of sexually abusing a minor in our archdiocese.

Today, it was brought to our attention that Jennifer Haselberger, former Chancellor of Canonical Affairs for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, provided an affidavit in the case of Doe 1, which is a civil lawsuit against the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the Diocese of Winona, and Thomas Adamson.

Joseph Wajda is included in the John Jay list, which is posted on our website. We offer our assurances that today we handle things differently regarding priests who have been accused of sexually abusing children.

July 1, 2014 - Upon my direction, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is conducting an internal investigation involving allegations made against me. These allegations are absolutely and entirely false.

July 1, 2014 - Several months ago, the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis received claims regarding alleged misbehavior involving Archbishop John Nienstedt. The claims did not involve anything criminal or with minors.
