St. Agnes was founded in 1887 as an ethnic parish for Austrian
immigrant Catholics who settled in the Frogtown neighborhood
to work in the shops of the Great Northern Railroad. The current
Baroque Church seating 1000 opened in 1912. The parish has a
long tradition of opening the treasury of sacred music including
Gregorian Chant and orchestral Masses by composers such as
Mozart, Schubert and Haydn. Today, Saint Agnes School is the sole
remaining parish sponsored PK-12 school in the Archdiocese and
serves 830 students from more than 80 zip codes.
