St. Edward was established in 1967 to meet the ever-growing number of Catholic families in Bloomington. Founding parishioners enjoy telling stories about Mass celebrated at Hubert Olson Junior High, fondly referred to as St. Hubert Olson. The first Mass in the newly completed church was celebrated in 1970 by Fr. Paul Dudley, later Bishop of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1989-1990 the campus was expanded and improved with a social hall, gathering space, administrative center, and education wing. St. Edward is a vibrant parish named for St. Edward the Confessor and shares his belief in helping the less fortunate. It actively supports charities both within the local neighborhood and beyond. The parish is also known for its hospitality, rich liturgies and great music.
