The Catholic presence in Hastings began when Guardian Angels was
established in 1856. A few years later, St. Boniface was established
in 1870 for German-speaking Catholics. From the start, and despite their
differences, the two parishes had a sense of unity and cooperation. In
1970, the two parish schools merged into Hastings Parochial School.
In 1987, the two parishes merged and were renamed St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. A new church
building was completed in 1994, and an addition was completed in 2006. Today, St. Elizabeth
Ann Seton is a vibrant, active community with a thriving school. Its mission of forming joyful
disciples who make Jesus Christ known and loved is fulfilled at school, and at church through
Mass, perpetual adoration, children’s faith formation, many adult formation offerings, and
more than a dozen outreach opportunities.
