Kenyon was largely a Norwegian Protestant settlement. The first Mass
was celebrated in 1905 in the old opera house. From 1905 to 1943, the
area continued to be mission territory, with occasional visits from priests in the surrounding area.
In 1943, St. Michael was officially established as a parish. In 1955, the present
church was completed. In 1973, the parish began sharing a priest with
St. Michael, Pine Island. Presently, it is served by the priests at Divine Mercy in Faribault.
