In the early 1850s, a small group of Irish immigrants formed a new settlement called Cahill. In 1857, they built a log church and named it in honor of St. Patrick, patron of Ireland. It was replaced in 1884 and again in 1925. In 1955, 27-acres of land were purchased for a future church and school. A sanctuary, social hall, and classrooms were completed in 1961. The school never opened, but the classrooms were used for parish faith formation. The present church was completed in 1980. Since then, the parish has continued to expand, grow, and serve the community of Edina
