January 1, 2021, “The Rediscover: Hour” radio show on Relevant Radio 1330am becomes “Practicing Catholic” – bringing conversation with the bishops and snapshots of Catholic life to faithful listeners in brand new ways.

The Rediscover: Hour was launched in 2013 by the Archdiocese’s Office of Communications. The show was part of the Archdiocese’s Rediscover: effort, which featured engaging talks, small group studies and other initiatives to reach-out and reconnect local Catholics with the Church and to each other.

The Archdiocese has moved away from the Rediscover: branding in recent years, and the name change creates an opportunity to refresh and rebrand in an updated way that reaches out to Catholics wherever they are in their lives and faith journeys.

“Practicing Catholic is a show for those of us who are trying every day to become better followers of Jesus – loving God and loving others more. That’s it. We’re practicing our faith. Sometimes we get it right. When we do, we rejoice and are thankful. Other times, we fall. When we do, we get back up and try again,” said Tom Halden, Director of Communications for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

Practicing Catholic will continue to feature regular conversations with Archbishop Bernard Hebda and Bishop Andrew Cozzens, along with a broader array of voices, such as Maria Wiering, editor of The Catholic Spirit. It will also continue highlighting young adult ministries, parish outreach and evangelism efforts, and the many people and local ministries who help us answer Christ’s call to discipleship.

Patrick Conley, who has hosted The Rediscover: Hour since 2016, looks forward to anchoring Practicing Catholic and contributing to its growth and outreach. “We want our listeners to get to better know our shepherds – the bishops – and hear from them monthly. It’s important for all of us to hear their voices and what’s on their hearts. We’re working on ways to make those conversations more interactive with our listeners and look forward to making that happen, too. I’m really excited to be part of this.”

Practicing Catholic will air Fridays at 9:00 p.m., Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 on Relevant Radio 1330am in the Twin Cities. It will also be available anytime at www.practicingcatholicshow.com, beginning January 1. Follow #practicingcatholicshow for updates.
