Archdiocese Purchases Archdiocesan Catholic Center

Archbishop Hebda announced that the Archdiocese closed June 21, 2022 on the purchase of the Archdiocesan Catholic Center (ACC), located at 777 Forest Street on Saint Paul’s East Side. The Archdiocese began leasing the ACC in February 2017.

In a letter to the priests of the Archdiocese, Archbishop Hebda stated that “the acquisition was possible due to the generosity of a 2020 estate gift from James and Florence Trainor, parishioners at St. Patrick parish in Edina,” and that he plans on dedicating the ACC to the Trainor family in July.

The Trainor’s gift allowed the Archdiocese to pay-off (early, in June 2021) the $3 million remaining on the survivor trust promissory note, fund abuse prevention and support programs for those harmed and consider capital projects, including purchasing the ACC. “In addition to solidifying our presence in the Dayton’s Bluff community, our transition from renter to owner comes with annual rent and property tax savings of approximately $600,000. That significant savings will be helpful for funding our evangelical and charitable mission into the future,” Archbishop Hebda added.

Archbishop Hebda asked priests to join him in a prayer of thanksgiving to God for the Trainor family and the many generous people of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
